I don’t really know how to juggle. It’s one of those life skills I wish I had.
I also wish I had learned how to do a backflip when I was younger. I always thought the kids that could do backflips were super cool. I remember this high school cheerleader at my older brother’s school that could backflip at least eight times in a row, once for every letter the crowd shouted out B-U-L-L-D–O–G—S. The last few were never quite as quick as the first couple, but anyone that can do that many backflips in a row is a rock star in my book. These days, I feel like an expert juggler. In addition to The Pajama Squid, I own and manage Little Red and help my husband as an office manager for his architecture firm. Shuffling kids between preschool and babysitters in the mornings. Shuffling lots of paperwork during the day in between sales and restocking the sales floor, and more shuffling in the evenings… a blur of quick and easy meals, baths, jammies, and bedtime kisses. Sweet baby Catherine was sleeping through the night, and now she’s up once a night again for that extra feeding and snuggle time, probably because she misses mommy so much and she knows I miss her too. Oh, and we also moved into a new house. Boxes everywhere not likely to be unpacked until sometime in September when season ends. And yet despite little sleep and lots on my plate, I’m giving it my all and so very thankful for the support of my loving husband. Everyone asks, “How do you do it all?” I don’t. My husband and I do it together. We make a good team. Last weekend when I had one foot out the door and was feeling awful that the babysitter wasn’t going to be able to come and help my sweet hubby while I was at work, I looked back to see if he was going to be alright with all three girls on his own, suddenly the baby started crying and the older two started a tug of war over a coveted toy… he remarked “I feel like one of those guys that spins plates up in the air.” Coming soon… a juggler, a plate spinner, and three little monkeys. We’d make quite an entertaining circus act.

I’d buy a ticket to your circus. Especially to see those gorgeous little monkeys.
