by Tiffany on December 8, 2009

i am available for your stocking.so Christmas is 16 days away, but who’s counting?

and a toy that is going over really well this holiday is my little tuttu pull toy turtle! children of all ages really respond to it, though it is for ages 18 months and up.

the adorable shell rotates as it is pulled, and it just makes a wonderful stocking stuffer!

so i thought why not make it the december giveaway?

speaking of stocking stuffers – i am always curious if people really get into that? i seem to always forget to stuff the stockings, and am usually running out Christmas morning to find some treats to put in them.

how about you?

your answer will enter you in to win tuttu the turtle!

I generally do – chocolate, fruits & nuts if I can find them, little oddments of toys, or colorful socks.

That is an adorable turtle!

andrea farley December 8, 2009 at 1:05 pm

I love this turtle!! I guess I could use it as a stocking stuffer, but since I’ll have two little ones soon, it would probably NEED to go in my stocking. Such a shame. :)

Goldibug December 8, 2009 at 1:26 pm

My favorite things to put into the stockings are mini teddy bears, oranges, toothbrushes, socks all the fun small stuff. Yes toothbrushes are fun to my boys LOL! We have to stear clear of candy since my kids are allergic to all the good stuff like chocolate but we manage to find things they enjoy.

Liza December 8, 2009 at 1:49 pm

My mom buys all year long and overstuffs the stockings to the max – she usually has a full shopping bag for each of us grown kids and grandkids, and I help her sort through everything and organize it on the hearth on Christmas Eve. It’s ridiculous but wonderful. My newborn will be getting a Pajama Squid wooden squid teether in her stocking for her first Christmas :) Any given year there will be fancy jarred foodstuffs, kitchen gadgets, soaps, undies, dish towels & pop-up sponges, tree ornaments, candles, chocolate…..

Our son will be 18-months at Christmas. Last year, I made a stocking over the holiday, and this will be our first year to use it. It’s up on the mantle now, and I look forward to carrying on my mom’s tradition of placing an orange in the toe of the stocking and filling it up with goodies. Since he’s so young, we have a kazoo, bubbles, and Christmas socks — with an eye out for some other small bits of fun to add!

Jessica December 8, 2009 at 6:10 pm

My husband is Dutch, so we do shoes in front of the fireplace and fill them with Dutch treats. :)

Laurel December 8, 2009 at 6:13 pm

Our daughter gets so excited about her Christmas stocking. Santa will bring a harmonica, a kazoo, a flower jump rope, chocolates and many more surprises. I always loved presents, but there was something about seeing that filled stocking on the fireplace each Christmas.

Mel December 8, 2009 at 6:20 pm

I LOVE buying things for the Christmas stockings and watching as everyone excitedly looks at each item! Love the idea of a kazoo above so am going to add that to the items!

Lauren December 8, 2009 at 6:20 pm

I always have good intentions, but by the time I’ve done all my Christmas shopping, I don’t want to do any more. My twins are just 20 months so hopefully I’ll have it together by the time they notice. My mom always stuffed ours with candy, fruit, and socks.

Sey December 8, 2009 at 6:37 pm

Since with 2 handful boys, that’s why I’ve been saving the left over Halloween candy! ….. Just like my mom and her mom. ^^”

Stockings are my favorite part of Christmas! At our house, they are filled with some of the most interesting gifts (small doesn’t have to mean insignificant!). For adults, unusual spices, perfumes or jewelry sometimes are mixed into the obligatory orange, nuts and special chocolates. For kids, small toys, hair things, fun toothbrushes, magazines…last year each child had a stuffed wild animal placed to look as if it had crawled into their stocking during the night. Fun!

Cindy December 8, 2009 at 7:05 pm

I’ve never really done stocking stuffers, but I do like the idea of them. I usually go with just one main present for my peeps, but then again, this is my first year with a child who can really appreciate gifts :) and with presents so cute as all the ones you have at The Pajama Squid, I’m sure it will be really hard to stick to just one!

Mike December 8, 2009 at 7:24 pm

My 3-yr-old has a stocking with her name on it that matches mine — both made by her Grammy/my mom. Not sure her baby brother’s will be ready in time. I’m stealing the kazoo idea as well, along with earplugs for the grownups.

Sara December 8, 2009 at 7:38 pm

I’ve always loved the idea of stuffing kid
and adult stockings with a whole bunch
of thoughtful little gifts. This year my
four year old is getting a rocket kit and
monster finger puppet kit from the
pajama squid! And peppermint
marshmallows from foodzie, yum….

joya December 8, 2009 at 8:33 pm

santa fills stockings at our house, even for the adults. generally santa sticks to small toys for the children, and for the adults- anything small goes! santa (and i) placed monogrammed cuff links in the mr.’s stocking last christmas!

Simone December 8, 2009 at 8:52 pm

Nope, no stockings at our house! I am originally from Holland where Sinterklaas is a lot ‘bigger’ than santa so I never really got in the swing of it.

This is the first Christmas that our daughter will understand (she’s 18 months) and so my first Christmas doing stockings! As kids, we always used to get hygiene products (like a new toothbrush and socks), a toblerone chocolate bar, magazine, and of course an orange in the bottom! For my daughter, I’ve got the toothbrush etc, and some little musical toys (bells). This turtle would be a great addition.

wixson December 8, 2009 at 11:36 pm

We put in a new toothbrush, a windup toy and some little odds and ends and CANDY. I cursed the day they learned to count!

Michele P. December 8, 2009 at 11:50 pm

I love to fill holiday stockings… of course, there is candy, both chocolate and non chocolate…, hair goodies for the girls, cat treats for the cats, a deodorant or cologne for the guys, a couple of gift cards in small dollar amounts for different fast food restaurants, usually $5-10 or so, pencils, and miscellaneous items I pick up all year. Such a cute little toy too, my grandson would love it!

I love finding little stocking stuffers to fill my kids socks. The fun of going through them helps them wait to unwrap gifts until everyone is more awake on Christmas morning! Thanks for the giveaway! Tuttu is so cute!

This is our first Christmas with our two month old Violet. She doesn’t seem that excited, but I am. I am really looking forward to the start of new holiday traditions with my new family. I made her a stocking that has her little face emroidered on the front, It really turned out well. I am going to fill it with just a few goodies like socks, a teether, a book or two, and her first ornament for the tree. This little turtle would be a great addition. Happy Christmas!

Jen December 9, 2009 at 9:51 am

This will be my baby’s first Christmas and I’m making her a stocking. My first inclination was to go all out — make it fantastic from day 1. But I decided not to add that kind of stress to the holiday. Instead, I’m making a very basic stocking from felt, a little “fur”-lined top, and putting her name on it. And then every Christmas she and I will add something new to the stocking. It’s win-win-win — we get to start a tradition, she gets a stocking that will grow with her and be a great keepsake when she’s older, and I get to not go nuts this first Christmas!

Lisa December 9, 2009 at 10:35 am

When I was growing up. Stockings were an important part of Christmas morning. We would celebrate Christmas with a house full of family, so in the morning the stockings served as a way to keep the little ones in their beds (or in their parents beds) a while longer while others slept. The stockings were packed full of chocolates, socks, jewelry, hair stuff usually their would be quite a special gift in the stocking ( esp. as we got older). We kept our empty stockings bedside and would wake up to a full one and then carry it into our parents bedroom in the morning. We would also take that time to enjoy our own little family before we joined the rest of the extended family under the tree. Now that we are older the stockings hang on the mantle. I am keeping the tradition of the stocking in our family now. Sophia turned two in August I think she will really enjoy emptying her stocking this year!

I love stockings and actually find them the easiest to fill! Sometimes, the smallest goodies are the best. ; )

molly December 9, 2009 at 2:35 pm

So cute! We always do stockings but lately have just been doing donations to something like Heifer Project instead of big gifts. The stocking stuffers are always things like socks, underwear, candy (and a toothbrush to counteract the candy), small puzzles, etc.

christine December 9, 2009 at 3:56 pm

this little turtle would make an absolutely adorable present for my 18-month-old! and wouldn’t he be just the perfect round object to put in the toe of a stocking? i love stocking stuffers and can’t wait to fill one for my little on this Christmas.

Carla December 9, 2009 at 11:24 pm

I haven’t done a stocking yet with my daughters (2.5 and 7 months) but these stories shared are great inspiration! I’m making this our adventure this weekend…perhaps an afternoon matinee of The Nutcracker & a trip to purchase some special stockings! ps. seriously heart the turtle!

Joy December 10, 2009 at 12:33 pm

Love to fill my granddaughter’s (18 mos) stocking with little books, hairbows, and small toys. Am expecting 3 more this year (twins and a single) so definitely will have to up the ante!

botaneige December 10, 2009 at 4:25 pm

I’m french and infortunatly we don’t have any stockink in France… it seems to be so fun !
The turtle is adorable. It would be a perfect present under our french christmas tree ! :-)

As a grandma to a 4 & 3 year old and a 8 & 9 month, I can always use new arsenal in my toy box. I have aways loved wooden toys, and have all the ones I bought my boys 32 years ago. They are still working.

Sholey Argani December 14, 2009 at 4:05 pm

We have 2 big stockings made from recycled vintage sweaters!
plan to fill as I did last year with special soap, small toys, good cookies –wrapped–
my older girl I hope will go to get a toy for her younger sister.

Beth December 15, 2009 at 4:35 pm

I love picking out things for my 3-year old’s stocking. (It’s easy to find fun little toys and colorful hair clips, etc). But I completely forget about my husband’s stocking every year, then end up buying a bunch of junk just to fill it up at the last minute…. Ugh.

Janice December 15, 2009 at 10:21 pm

My Mom really gets into stockings and the contents that don’t fit are piled up all around them. Now that my siblings and I are grown, one of my sisters and I always get together and go out shopping to fill our parents’ stockings. We usually get ornaments, candies, fancy hot chocolates, and other random items that are the right size to fit. My daughter just turned 18 months, so she’ll (kind of) understand what’s happening this year. As I read this article, I realized I haven’t even thought about her stocking yet! I guess I’d better get going!

chris December 16, 2009 at 12:54 am

usually, i don’t care much either way about stocking stuffers. now that we’ve got a little one, though, i’m a lot more interested in ways to give her little consumables! :)

Lisa December 18, 2009 at 1:17 pm

Stockings are my favourite! I love finding tiny gifts for those I love and receiving them in return. We have done “only stockings” before and it is so much fun. I’d adore wrapping this turtle for my little one to find christmas morning.
